You shouldn't be afraid of water, because in canoe polo, there won't be a dry spot on your skin. Our sport is often described as a mix of handball, basketball, and rugby on the water. Certainly not entirely wrong, and yet canoe polo has its own unique characteristics. In addition to a high degree of strength, speed, and endurance, you need excellent boat and ball control, coupled with tactical skills, to be successful as a team. The idea of the game is quickly described. On a playing area of approximately 35 x 23 meters, five players, sitting in special canoe polo kayaks, attempt to get the water ball into the opponent's goal (which is 1.5 meters wide x 1.0 meters high and has its bottom edge suspended 2.0 meters above the water) with their hands or paddles in two 10-minute periods, while scoring more goals than the opposing five players. It sounds dry, but it's really a lot of fun and action-packed. The best way to see for yourself is to watch our teams train or even visit us at one of our numerous tournaments.
